01What This Tool Is — and Is Not
UnixFlux is a reading aid, not an authoritative time source. It exists to make integers glanceable, not to settle disputes.
Heuristics, not certainties
Unit detection is based on digit count: up to 11 digits reads as seconds, 12–14 as milliseconds, 15–16 as microseconds. A 10-digit millisecond value from a truncated system will therefore be read as seconds. The detected unit is always displayed so you can sanity-check it.
Browser time-zone data
Time-zone and daylight-saving rendering depends on the IANA database compiled into your browser. A browser with outdated data may disagree with a patched server. For legal or compliance deadlines, confirm with the authoritative jurisdiction or system.
Microsecond precision
Sixteen-digit microsecond values are divided by 1,000 and converted to milliseconds, which keeps sub-millisecond precision out of the displayed clock. This is a display trade-off, not a rounding error in your data.
